Negombo to Sigiriya | Dambulla Cave Temple
Travel towards the Cultural Triangle and visit Dambulla Cave Temple, a UNESCO World Heritage Site famous for ancient Buddhist statues, colourful murals and sacred cave shrines.
Day 3
Sigiriya Sunrise, Village Tour & Pidurangala Sunset
Begin early with a sunrise climb to Sigiriya Rock Fortress, exploring the ancient royal palace ruins, frescoes and landscaped gardens. During the day, enjoy the Hiriwadunna Village Tour, with village life, farming landscapes and possible bullock-cart or catamaran experiences. In the late afternoon, climb Pidurangala Rock for sunset views overlooking Sigiriya.

Polonnaruwa Ancient City & Minneriya Safari
Explore Polonnaruwa’s royal palace ruins, stupas and magnificent Gal Vihara Buddha statues. In the afternoon, enjoy a safari at Minneriya National Park, famous for wild elephants and reservoir scenery. Wildlife sightings depend on the season.

Travel to Kandy and visit the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic, one of Sri Lanka’s most important Buddhist pilgrimage sites. In the evening, experience a traditional Kandyan cultural dance performance.

Transfer from Negombo to Bandaranaike International Airport for departure.
Planning note: Day 8 is a long transfer day. An early departure from Yala is recommended.
